4. Teddy Long

Teddy Long will forever be one of the people who instantly comes to mind when thinking about the golden age of Smackdown.

It was Teddy Long who guided the brand through many historic moments from the likes of Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, The Undertaker, and John Bradshaw Layfield.

While he oftentimes didn’t insert himself into storylines as heavily as some general mangers, that ability to be a face authority figure helping to guide the show without becoming a stifling force is what made Long great.

Long’s longevity as one of WWE’s top authority figures was largely due to that deft hand he brought to the proceedings. Even when he was inevitably placed in to the role of villainous heel though, Long still managed to create unforgettable moments without overshadowing the show itself.

His limo ride with The Undertaker is a shining example of this, as its still one of the most memorable moments in Smackdown history.

Speaking of The Undertaker, who can forget Long’s oft-repeated shticks as general manager of putting people in one on one matches with The Undertaker or random tag team matches as a result of on-screen arguments?

Teddy Long simply played too large of a role in creating some of the best times in Smackdown history to not be included as one of WWE’s top authority figures.
