2: Eric Bischoff

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Eric Bischoff’s best moments as an authority figure came on WCW, not on WWE.

Well, you would be right. Bischoff’s greatest triumphs were oftentimes as a member of WCW. That doesn’t mean he didn’t have an indelible impression on WWE history however.

Without Bischoff’s frequently heinous acts leading the NWO on Nitro, the ever-popular Monday Night Wars might never have reached the heights it did. Bischoff was such a crucial piece of the NWO that it’s hard to imagine the faction being near as successful without him.

His reveal as the villainous leader of the NWO is topped only by Hulk Hogan’s own heel turn in terms of its impact. Bischoff led the faction to new heights, creating thrilling rivalries with the likes of Diamond Dallas Page and The Giant along the way.

It’s hard not to think of that time as when WCW was at its best, challenging Monday Night Raw by having the explosively popular NWO sauntering to the ring every episode of Nitro to run roughshod over the show.

Even after the faithful day when WCW ended however, Bischoff still was able to make an impact in WWE. His time as Raw general manager led to the creation of memorable gimmicks like the Elimination Chamber and the Raw Roulette, while also sparking feuds with many of WWE’s top stars.

It’s undeniable that Eric Bischoff’s vast achievements in both WCW and WWE have earned him a place as one of the top authority figures in WWE history.
