It shouldn’t be surprising to hear that Mustafa Ali is one of the most popular superstars on 205 Live. Between his in-ring ability, his natural charisma, and his overall demeanor and personality, Ali is an easy superstar to fall in love with. But so far, he’s had nothing to show for it except for pride.
Following a tough loss at WrestleMania 34 to Cedric Alexander in the finals of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament, Ali remained near the top of the 205 Live card. His most recent long-term feud was against a reinvigorated Hideo Itami. During the summer, Itami defeated Ali, who suffered an “injury” and was forced to miss some time.
After returning, Ali got his revenge on Itami, winning a Falls Count Anywhere Match in October. Still as popular as ever, Ali was now free of any other rivals, and a victory over Tony Nese brought him to the verge of the Cruiserweight Championship once again.
But this time around, one would think it’s really Ali’s time. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and the month he spent off television hasn’t eroded his popularity one bit. In fact, he may be more loved than before. So it’s imperative not to waste the wave of momentum Ali has built, and capitalize on it sooner rather than later.
