WWE Raw: Results, Review, and Analysis for November 12th, 2018
I will recognize that Ronda had another backstage promo against Becky Lynch backstage, but I don’t want to waste my metaphorical breath explaining how crappy it was.
Instead, let’s focus on The Riott Squad, who is out here to discuss how Ruby Riott broke Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart’s glasses last week in front of Natalya. Ruby is already faking that she’s sorry, and she’s laying it on thick, so this one is going to be a doozy already.
That’s exactly what she does, fakes feeling sorry until she gives a Joker-level smile to the camera and goes… off. Of course Ruby says she wish she could have done more to get to Natalya, even going so far as saying that Jim Neidhart wore those glasses so he didn’t have to look at his embarrassment of a daughter.
That’s the last straw for Nattie, who jumps in the ring to attack Ruby, but she’s quickly overpowered by the full Riott Squad.
That smile that Ruby gave alone in my opinion was enough to put that promo over. That’s a special thing, when you can evoke themes or story progression without dialogue or, in this case, action. If Ruby didn’t say anything after that smile, and the Squad just left the ring, I would have been wholly content with that being a quality promo.
