3. Shinsuke Nakamura Matches Up Well Against Seth Rollins

We’ve seen Seth Rollins defeat some of the best wrestlers in the world this year. He’s pinned Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Dolph Ziggler, and The Miz in Intercontinental Championship matches, and there’s little doubt that Rollins’s combination of strength and speed makes him a dangerous opponent against anyone.

The problem is that Rollins is facing an entirely different beast in Shinsuke Nakamura. While he has shown up well against wrestlers with a size advantage (Owens and Reigns), wrestlers with equal technical prowess (Ziggler), superstars as quick and gutsy as he is (Balor), and clever heels (The Miz), he hasn’t faced a striker like Nakamura.

Rollins’s kicks can bring the mightiest of opponents to their knees, but that pales in comparison to what Nakamura can do. Nakamura prides himself in being able to knock someone’s head off with his devastating “Kinsasha Knee Strike”, and this move is at the epicenter of most of his pre-match promos. He often teases this move early in matches, planting a seed in his opponents’ mind, which makes them vulnerable for his other strikes and suplexes.

Nakamura is as quick as Rollins, is a much better submission wrestler than Rollins with both an armbar and triangle choke, and he is one of the top strikers on the WWE main roster. This is not a matchup Rollins will be prepared for, given that it’s the first time in his career he’ll be facing Nakamura, and his preparation will be compromised by Ambrose.
