2. Daniel Bryan Needed The Turn Badly

One of the biggest complaints about SmackDown this year has been the under-utilization of Daniel Bryan. Initially thought to have been a shoe-in to get thrust back into the WWE Championship picture upon being cleared, Bryan’s path was stalled by a feud with Big Cass that accomplished very little. The reformation of Team Hell-No (which was a welcome trip down memory lane) followed, but was cut short due to Kane suffering an injury.

Although Bryan spent much of the year on the outside looking in, always only this close to championship contention, as far as the WWE Championship was concerned, the underlying chance of a match with The Miz at either SummerSlam or WrestleMania tempered fears about him falling down the pecking order.

Even the initial excitement of a big-time match between the two blood rivals wore off due to their constant battles over the last few months. Their rivalry had the potential to reach a satisfying conclusion at Super Show-Down but the lightning quick manner in which Bryan won destroyed any likelihood of that happening. With the widely predicted WrestleMania coronation for Daniel Bryan becoming less logically feasible, his unforeseen demeanor change adds a new dimension and more value to his character.
