Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish) vs. Ricochet, Pete Dunne, and War Raiders (Hanson and Rowe)- WarGames match

It looks like this year’s WarGames match will more closely follow the old-school format that many long-time wrestling fans grew up with. Sure, the bout will probably end with a pinfall, which runs counter to the spirit of the original match, but the fact that WarGames matches are taking place on a WWE show in any form is astonishing, given Vince McMahon’s weird fetish for labeling anything from Jim Crockett Promotions/WCW as inferior.

Thanks to Kyle O’Reilly’s win over Hanson on last Wednesday’s NXT, the heels will have the man advantage going into the contest — as it should be, since giving the babyface quartet numerous edges throughout the match would display a level of stupidity only reserved for a mid-2000’s episode of Impact Wrestling.

On a four-match card, these eight men will get more than enough time to put together a memorable war inside the two cage structure. As was the case last year, fans should expect a lot of brawling and weapon shots in this affair, with the added bonus of at least one insane Ricochet highspot to pop the crowd.

Picking a winner in this one will be interesting. Logic dictates that the babyfaces should pick up the victory, but I could also see the UE winning to establish WarGames as “their match”, which would ultimately put over the foursome that eventually beats them inside of it. Plus I don’t see either of these teams getting called up until after WrestleMania, at the earliest.

Eh, I’ll go with my gut and pick the good guys to win, with one of the War Raiders getting the pin on Roderick Strong to earn another title shot (while also creating some dissension in the UE ranks).
