WWE Top 5 Matches Of The Week: Lio Rush Keeps Showing Out
SmackDown Live: Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles
Although Cedric Alexander vs. Lio Rush was my pick as the best match of the week, AJ Styles vs. Daniel Bryan was indubitably the most important match of the week.
Bryan managed to earn himself an impromptu shot at the WWE Championship after taking umbrage with Styles saying his name, which is ironic since wrestlers like The Velveteen Dream have went to hell and back to get their competitors to respect them enough to say their name.
Digression aside, this was another good match between these two, and the story of Bryan finally taking the easy way out was tremendous. As always, The Miz bats 1.000 in the realm of hot takes, and he has a career in hosting a sports morning show.
It will be interesting to see how Bryan’s actions affect his relationship with The Miz, who was steadfast in his belief that Bryan always wanted to cheat, in his heart of hearts. At the most decisive moment, Bryan decided to go for the low-blow when opportunity struck, and, from there, he was always going to capitalize.
This was a great way to end Styles’s reign that surpassed a year, and there’s plenty of excitement for Bryan vs. Lesnar at Survivor Series.
