WWE Top 5 Promos Of The Week: Shinsuke Nakamura Is Heartbroken
SmackDown Live: Becky Lynch Can’t Compete At Survivor Series
After absorbing a punch to the face on Monday Night Raw, Becky Lynch broke her nose and potentially suffered a concussion, which prevents her from competing at Survivor Series against Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey.
Fortunately, Becky did not have to relinquish the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the go-home show before Survivor Series, but it was still tough to watch her come out, hurt mentally in addition to being injured physically, and state that she won’t be able to beat “Ronnie” into a pulp on Sunday.
Becky chose Charlotte Flair as her replacement at Survivor Series, and Flair vs. Rousey was a rumored WrestleMania 35 match for quite some time. Charlotte is a good fit for this match as Becky’s replacement, though the fans did pop for Asuka when Becky looked at her face-to-face, and that match should be fantastic.
Though it was a tough moment to watch, Becky cut another tremendous promo here, putting all of her emotions on the table and sending Rousey a few more disses. Becky is one hell of a person, and it’s crazy how she somehow gets even more awesome each week.
Some people criticized Becky’s hug with Charlotte, but that was a real moment between two good friends. Becky and Charlotte have been through a lot together, and Charlotte has Becky’s back, especially in this tough time. Some things are bigger than wrestling.
Furthermore, it still isn’t that weird in kayfabe. Becky said all of these terrible things about Charlotte during their feud, but recall that after the grueling Last Woman Standing match, Becky said that she respects Charlotte.
That’s what happens when two wrestlers go to war, and even the character Becky saw that Charlotte isn’t just an entitled wrestler. She hits hard, too, and is just as determined as Becky to be the best. Hence, why Becky picked Charlotte – and not Asuka or anyone else in the SmackDown Women’s Division – to face Rousey…and why she hugged her at the end in a heart-warming, “go make Ronnie tap” moment.
