WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights, And Grades For November 20, 2018
Sonya Deville And Mandy Rose vs. Asuka And Naomi
We’ve seen fractures in the relationship between Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville recently, largely because of Rose’s self-serving words on WWE SmackDown a few weeks ago. However, my guess is that Deville and Rose, who worked so well together at the Elimination Chamber earlier this year and are real-life best friends, will continue to be on the same page, especially with the Women’s Tag Team Champions still yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, there can be no doubt that Naomi and Asuka are on the same page as a tag team, and the energy they both bring to matches makes them among the most fun partnerships to watch in the entire WWE. Did I make myself clear? The entire WWE.
Rose began the match with Naomi, showing off her strength before getting a taste of reality when Naomi hit her with a headscissors. She then sent Deville sprawling with a dropkick before she and Asuka sent them packing to the outside with their double hip attack move.
Asuka tagged in and started bamboozling Rose with her sheer quickness, but Rose hit her with a stiff elbow to avoid a suplex. That suplex, of course, came just moments later after Asuka hit her with a sharp knee. It seems like Asuka always has Rose’s number in the ring, but Rose could potentially have the answer if she’s willing to reach into her bag of tricks.
Sonya and Mandy had issues getting on the same page, as Rose nearly ran into Deville, who tried to save Mandy from a charging Asuka. Deville sacrificed herself and ended up paying for it, tapping out to the Asuka Lock while Rose got hit by a hip attack from Naomi.
It seems like Rose and Deville will figure things out, but this was a tough loss for them against a superior tag team.
Rating: Solid. The four women in this match are all very good at what they do, and I liked the teases of friction between Deville and Rose. This is a story to watch going forward, but it’s just as important to enjoy the work Naomi and Asuka have been doing.
