WWE Top 5 Matches Of The Week: Rhea Ripley Owns NXT UK
NXT UK: Toni Storm vs. Jinny
Wrestling fans familiar with PROGRESS have undoubtedly seen Jinny vs. Toni Storm multiple times before, but there’s something special about logging into the WWE Network app and seeing these two going at it in this promotion.
They didn’t disappoint either, though they did leave plenty in the tank for a potential title clash in the future. Like heel announcer Nigel McGuinness, Jinny was my pick to win the tournament, but she was unable to defeat the resilient Storm, who used “Storm Zero” again to defeat NXT UK’s “Fashionista”.
Though Storm advances to face Ripley in the finals, no woman boosted their stock more in this tournament than Jinny. Although fans who have followed the United Kingdom scene understand that Jinny is one of the best talents in the world, especially her heel work and character, new fans watching NXT UK likely weren’t. When I posed a question about the best characters on NXT UK, many fans answered Jinny, with some newer observers noting how impressed they are with her character.
Jinny, of course, hasn’t won everyone over, but this is a good match to understand more of what she’s about as a competitor who is willing to cut any corner to win a prize that nobody else in the world will have.
