Building a Foundation for Tag Titles?

On Raw this week, we were treated to what promised at the outset to be a horrendously boring “open forum” sit-down with Sasha Banks and Bayley. In fact, the writers even poked fun at themselves a bit when Bayley told Alexa Bliss, who had just been put in charge of the Raw women’s division and had the idea for the segment, that she hoped this was not another failed attempt at recreating the infamous “This is Your Life” production between Mick Foley and The Rock.

It was seemingly doomed for disaster but what we ended up getting, while still somewhat clunky, was not wholly without some substance.

Bliss hosted the session and took a question from an obvious plant in the front row who asked Bamks and Bayley how they would change the Raw women’s division. Sasha, predictably, used the opportunity to burn Bliss by saying she’d ship the Goddess back to SmackDown.

What followed was a calculated assault on the “Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection” by Alicia Fox, Mickie James and Dana Brooke, who, inexplicably, was just teaming with Sasha and Bayley the previous night at Starrcade. WWE was never known for its continuity, I guess, and poor Dana needs all the screen time she can get.

This turned into a huge mess of a brawl that helped WWE manage to feature some of the more underappreciated women on Raw’s roster, but what stood out the most was the frequent use of the word “tag team” in relation to Sasha Banks and Bayley. Could this be a teaser to the introduction of some Women’s Tag Team Titles?
