Mahalicia vs. Fabulous Truth [Mixed Match Challenge]đź”´
The Mixed Match Challenge finals are scheduled to occur at WWE TLC 2018, where the best mixed tag from Raw will face off against the best mixed tag from SmackDown, and the winners will get #30 spots in the Royal Rumble in January. In terms of Raw, the current teams in the mixed match challenge playoffs are (1) Ember Moon and Curt Hawkins, (2) Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox, (3) Finn Balor and Bayley, and (4) Bobby Lashley and Mickie James. In terms of SmackDown, the current teams are: (1) Jeff Hardy and Charlotte, (2) R-Truth and Carmella, (3) The Miz and Asuka, and (4) Naomi and Jimmy Uso.
Since Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox made it to the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, they definitely seem like the one-hit wonders for the Raw side of things. However, they actually defeated Ember Moon and her mystery babyface partner, who was set to replace Braun Strowman due to his elbow injury. I thought Elias would replace Braun Strowman to become Ember Moon’s mystery partner since he just step foot into babyface territory and this would have been a methodical way to propel his babyface character with a solid win over Mahal, whom he has defeated on Raw in the past month. Instead, Elias was completely neglected, and Curt Hawkins, who has a notorious losing streak, became the replacement who forced Ember Moon out of the tournament.
In turn, Lashley has had feuds with both Balor and Elias on Raw in the past few weeks so it would have actually be fitting for him and James to defeat Balor and Bayley in the first round and then defeat Moon and Elias in the Raw finals. Instead, he and James lost to Balor and Bayley in the first round. This makes me think that there’s hopefully more in store for Lashley, Elias, and Balor at the PPV, especially in relation to Constable Corbin’s managerial storyline. Thus, Balor and Bayley may end up losing as well. After seeing how all of this unfolded, I can already see that this Mixed Match Challenge final is going to be an utter joke.
DANCE BREAK! Since R-Truth and Carmella also made it to the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, they definitely seem like the one-hit wonders for the SmackDown side of things as well. However, Charlotte is already scheduled to be in a triple threat TLC match for the SmackDown Women’s Title and Jeff Hardy seems to have started a feud with Samoa Joe, so they will most likely not win SmackDown’s side of the bracket.
Also, The Miz and Asuka, who are the champions from last season, are prone to losing SmackDown’s side of the bracket. Asuka is in the triple threat TLC match for the SmackDown Women’s Title , and The Miz seems to be continuing his “World Cup” matrimonial conversations with Shane O’Mac. Naomi and Jimmy Uso have a slim chance of winning this side of the bracket since Jimmy Uso will most likely be occupied facing The Bar with his brother, Jey Uso, in a SmackDown Tag Title Match.
As a result, I foresee the heel Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox winning the Raw’s side of MMC and the babyfaces R-Truth and Carmella winning the SmackDown’s side by process of elimination. Unlike the other competitors in mixed match challenge, these four individuals have nothing else to do on the card. Since it’s unlikely that any superstar will be involved in 2 matches within one night, I foresee Mahalicia pulling off the upset win.
Just imagine Jinder Mahal gloating about winning the Royal Rumble due to his #30 spot, advancing to the main event of WrestleMania 35 to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title, and calling himself the BEAST MASTER! Since we already know who the #30 spots will be a month in advance, we might as well have a good laugh about it, and I bet Alicia Fox would find something crazy and entertaining to propel her #30 spot too.
On top of that, Raw established itself as the superior show at Survivor Series by cleanly sweeping SmackDown (Editor’s Note: 6-1!), so would a SmackDown victory make a difference here? Far from it. Besides, who needs #30 spots when you’ve got a dance break? Raw’s Mahalicia for the win and a Shanti-filled vacation!
