Dragon Lee is yet another big name added to the growing MLW roster, as he will appear at the Never Say Never event on December 13.

Major League Wrestling continues to grow its footing as one of the promotions to watch, as the independent wrestling scene continues to flourish. The brand boasts several names worth watching such as Pentagon Jr, Ray Fenix, The Hart Foundation and more. But news broke this week of an intriguing debut that will catch the attention of plenty of fans who weren’t expecting the new addition. Dragon Lee is set to make his first MLW appearance on December 13 at the Never Say Never card in Miami.

Lee’s first opponent will be former WWE athlete, Rich Swann. Lee is the current CMLL World Lightweight Champion and is considered one of the best luchadores in the industry today.

Since his debut just four years ago, he has continued to develop into one of the best Mexican stars competing across wrestling – so much so that he was awarded the 2014 Rookie of the Year by the Wrestling Observer. This year, he was ranked number 125 in the PWI 500; more than a 100-spot improvement over his previous ranking of 251 back in 2016.

At 23 years of age, much isn’t known about the man under the mask. In fact, his first name is still unknown as he simply goes by Munoz Gonzalez. But what is known is that Dragon Lee can go in the ring. This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that knows his family line. Munoz Gonzalez is the second man to don the Dragon Lee mask. The first is his older brother Carlos, who is currently known as Mistico II, using one of the most famous Lucha Libre monikers in recent memory.

As 2018 comes to a close, Lee may be recognized as one of the breakout stars of the year. Not only has he found success in CMLL, but he’s been a part of a few shows that include Ring of Honor and New Japan. Perhaps the biggest moment came when he was included in this year’s edition of the Best of the Super Juniors tournament in NJPW.

The five single matches he put on during that run were rated from 3.25 stars by Dave Meltzer, all the way up to 4.5. This includes the infamous match he had against Hiromu Takahashi where Lee botched a Phoenix-Plex that caused the Japanese star to severely injure his neck, and he’s expected to be out for up to 12 months.

This year wasn’t his only time appearing in the Best of the Super Juniors tourney, as he was also a part of the 2017 edition where he faced off against the likes of Will Ospreay, Ricochet, TAKA Michinoku and others. In fact, much of Lee’s recent years in the industry have seen him rub elbows with some of the best independent stars in wrestling.

Lee is a strong fit for today’s wrestling fan; as he has a very fast paced style with the ability to transition between a high flier move set to that of a power-based game. He uses a variety of moves that mix in suplexes, power bombs and top rope attacks. His Dragon Driver and Desuncadora are two must-see moves that usually leave the fans cheering for more.
