Fusion Next Week & The MLW Injury Report

We recently covered the rash of injuries affecting Major League Wrestling, so I won’t go into a ton of the same detail here other than to reiterate how much the Miami events have been shaken up due to a handful of wrestlers being removed (or potentially removed, in the case of MJF) from the shows.

The major announcement this week from MLW comes in the form of the first-ever live broadcast of MLW Fusion on December 14 from Zero Hour in Miami. The one-hour special is an exciting way to wind down a big year from MLW and one has to wonder if more live events, either on beIN, YouTube or Fite TV, will come from the company in 2019.

Running down the updated card for Never Say Never, we’ll now see Teddy Hart face Pentagon Jr in singles competition after Rey Fenix suffered a groin injury which will keep him on the shelf. Tom Lawlor and Simon Gotch are slated for a No Ropes, No Holds Barred Match which should still be on despite Lawlor breaking his hand in a fight with Deron Winn. Fightful is reporting that Lawlor will not require surgery or a cast for the injury.

PCO and LA Park are still going to clash in a Falls Count Anywhere Match while Shane Strickland will now stand in for MJF in a huge match against Rush. Dragon Lee and DJZ will make their MLW debuts as they face Rich Swann and El Hijo de LA Park in singles matches respectively while Andrew Everett and Dezmond Xavier make their debuts against one another.

At Zero Hour, Tommy Dreamer and Brian Pillman Jr will continue their war as they meet in a Singapore Cane Match. Rush moves onto the second night of the double-shot to take on Rich Swann while super heavyweights Ace Romero and Barrington Hughes collide. After making their debuts the night before, Dragon Lee and DJZ will light up Miami against one another.

Originally been announced as a four-way ladder match, the battle for the World Middleweight Title has morphed over the past month. Marko Stunt was a part of the festivities until a broken leg took him out of the running. This opened the door for Dezmond Xavier, but the fun didn’t stop there. With MJF’s elbow injury making him questionable for the contest, Andrew Everett has been added to the mix to spice things up. If MJF can compete, the 5-way will go on as planned but if he is not medically cleared, we’ll have a new World Middleweight Champion for the freshly-vacated title.

Of course, the night is headlined by Low Ki defending the MLW World Heavyweight Title against Konnan in a No DQ match. Can Konnan come out of retirement in his own backyard to pull off the upset of the year in MLW by finally becoming the man to dethrone Low Ki, or will Salina de la Renta continue to sit at the top of the Major League Wrestling food chain with the World Heavyweight Champion by her side?

Next week on Fusion, Sammy Guevara welcomes the leader of Los Ingobernables, Rush, to Major League Wrestling. Guevara recently made his return to MLW in a losing effort to El Hijo de LA Park and it doesn’t get any easier for the AAA Cruiserweight Champion from there. Can he take the wind out of the sails of Rush as he makes his Major League debut?
