Opening Match: Finn Balor vs. Lio Rush

The crowd will be hot for the start of a show of this kind; one that has never been done before. There’s no better (worse?) way to start the main card than with Lio Rush and a mic in his hand. The Man of the Hour needs to be the man with the privilege of opening the show.

Rush will find a way to get the crowd against him before his opponent, a familiar foe from Monday Night Raw, Finn Balor makes his way to the ring to a raucous ovation.

Balor could very well get in the ring with any of the cruiserweights of 205 Live and put on a stellar match, but Rush just makes too much sense. The two already have some beef thanks to Rush’s alliance with Bobby Lashley, making the booking of this contest rather simple. Balor would get sick and tired of Rush always getting in the way, leading to a fast-paced contest that would see each competitor attempt to run circles around the other.

Balor seemingly never competes in a bout in which he is the bigger man, but he would have that opportunity against Rush. There’s no telling if we’d see a different approach from the first-ever Universal Champion, but either way, he’d be the clear favorite against his younger opponent. No one would be surprised if Rush held his own for most of the contest, but Balor’s experience would ultimately help him take down the cocky and confident Rush.

Winner: Finn Balor by pinfall
