3. Jey Uso vs. Cesaro vs. Xavier Woods
The SmackDown Tag Team Championship picture has been putting its red brand equivalent to shame in recent months. There are many outstanding teams on the blue brand that are all legit championship threats, including three that will square off at TLC for the gold.
The Bar will defend the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Usos and The New Day in a Triple Threat Match at TLC, but last night was about a slightly different side of the pending Triple Threat Match. One member of each team competed last night when it was Jey Uso vs. Cesaro vs. Xavier Woods.
The talent in the ring was undeniable, but for a more or less random match, these men really put on a show. There was some outstanding action in this match along with physical, hard-hitting action as well. The biggest highlight in the match was when Cesaro swung Jey with Woods on his shoulders. There were several close near falls as well that put the winner in serious question.
But in the end, Jey was able to pick up the win and give The Usos even more momentum heading into TLC. If the WWE gives this match the respect it deserves, it could wind up being one of the best tag team matches of the year. Only time will tell, but given the caliber of teams involved, the odds are in the match’s favor.
Last night’s Triple Threat Match was a very solid appetizer to what the main course could be in less than two weeks.
Final Grade: B+
