Intergender wrestling is an area where WWE is helplessly behind the times. These five feuds could change that.

Despite the fact that intergender wrestling is becoming more and more accepted throughout the wrestling industry, WWE maintains that it isn’t appropriate for their audience.

They relaxed on this in some small ways, most notably with some great intergender spots at WrestleMania 34,  but the company has been publicly lukewarm at best about making these matches a regular thing.

However, as often happens, the talent at WWE isn’t exactly marching in step with the company. Recently, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins started a social media feud on Twitter, and threatened to take the action into the ring:

Now, it is unlikely that WWE is going to give us this match. A high-profile intergender match between two main-eventing superstars on different shows? Probably not.

But there’s no reason why WWE couldn’t have intergender wrestling. Normalizing intergender wrestling will create more opportunities for women at the company across the board, and also draw more interest from the indie fans WWE is attempting to court with their high-profile NXT hirings. There are also wrestlers on all of WWE’s shows that have experience putting on excellent intergender matches, and there are plenty of storyline opportunities for them to show their stuff.

WWE can dig their heels in if they want to, but intergender wrestling is only growing in popularity with fans. It would benefit them to start using the talent they already have on the roster to explore how to make it work in the WWE style.

To help them along, we’ve chosen five dream scenarios for WWE to test the waters with intergender storylines. To be fair to the talent involved, we’ve stuck to wrestlers who have some experience with intergender matches and would be likely to handle them well in the WWE spotlight. Read on to see which old rivalries we want back, which new ones we want to see ignited, and who we deserve as our next Universal champion.
