Kassius Ohno VS Mia Yim

It’s hard to think of an NXT women’s signing that has been more anticipated than Mia Yim. Charismatic, talented, and boasting over a decade of in-ring experience, Yim has been incredibly over since the day she set foot in Full Sail. She is also known for being an awesome intergender wrestler. Her highlight reel includes compelling matches with Joey Ryan, Adam Cole, and another recent NXT signee, Matt Riddle.

Yim is a distinctive talent and a versatile wrestler, but she should consider what’s happened to LeRae over the last few months as a cautionary tale. She needs to find a story of her own quickly, or she’ll risk being stuck in a story that has nothing to do with her or just getting lost in the women’s roster shuffle.

Kassius Ohno has some experience with intergender wrestling, at one point holding the unofficial Undisputed World Intergender Heavyweight Tag Team Championship title with partner (and intergender wrestling powerhouse) Sara del Rey at Ring of Honor. He is also an NXT talent who would benefit from borrowing some of Mia Yim’s debut shine. We’ve watched him endure a painful losing streak over the last year.

As a heel, things appear to be turning around for him. However, it’s hard to see the benefit of NXT gaining another run-of-the-mill heel while Undisputed Era and Tomasso Ciampa are running the place. Ohno needs an interesting rivalry to give his current arc some direction. Him declaring himself the gateway to NXT puts him in a great position to feud with Yim, who has just entered the scene and needs some direction of her own.

A rivalry between these two could give us some incredible matches and solidify Ohno as a heel, and give us some indication as to how Yim’s character will be handled at NXT.
