Weight classes don’t matter when it comes to a wrestler’s ability to put on a great match. These five examples would showcase that those once deemed “small” can work with the biggest names in WWE.

In professional wrestling, especially the WWE, size has always been a point of contention. For some, size has been a major factor behind the reason they were pushed to levels that may not correlate directly with their skill.

On the other side of that coin is the idea that there are other wrestlers that have the skill to compete and wow the fanbase, but they are held back due to the perception that their lack of skill would mean they would not be able to draw in the mainstream fan.

While there’s some debate around that topic, there’s one thing that can’t be denied – there is a wealth of talent in the world of professional wrestling that may not fit the perceived height and weight requirement. But that doesn’t mean that these wrestlers can’t go in the ring.

The cruiserweight division has always been one of the most intriguing groups in professional wrestling. Even before Rey Mysterio and Psicosis put the world on notice with their series of matches in 1995 and 1996; the division has been well known in areas such as Japan and Mexico.

Now, there’s a special space for them on the WWE Network known as 205 Live. Since being taken over by Triple H and refocusing on the action in the ring, this show is consistently one of the best shows on the network. Mustafa Ali’s appearance on WWE SmackDown this week created excitement for fans to watch that match, and intrigue in the idea that there’s more to come as the cruiserweights are slowly mixed into more of the main roster.

But what is also happening is that the perception of the small wrestler is slowly being pushed away. No longer are we looking at the days these men being used as fodders for the bigger wrestlers. Instead, they are being placed in matches against big names that can help present them as real threats to the top of the main roster.

With that in mind, here are some ideas that continue to build on that narrative and that would immediately create excitement for what could be if they were placed and properly announced for main roster shows.
