Rush vs Rich Swann

As both men readied themselves for the match, it was clear that these were two completely different types of wrestlers. Rush, more stoic and… well… tranquilo glared across the ring at Swann as he clapped and danced in the opposite corner.

The crowd began a chant of “Tranquilo! Tranquilo!” which Swann joined in on leading Rush to lead the crowd in rhythmic clapping so Swann could continue to dance. Rush used the false sense of security washing over Swann to his advantage and jumped his opponent to start the match.

Rush settled into the contest with a doozy of a dropkick to the base of Swann’s neck threatening to trigger the same problems Swann faced in New York where he found himself concussed by The Hart Foundation.

Not willing to keep the match in the confines of the ring, Rush dumped Swann to the outside and whipped him into the railing before disappearing into the crowd to find a weapon. The leader of Los Ingobernables returned with a metal trash can and bounced it off of Swann’s head as trash spilled across the floor of the arena.

Rush hurled Swann onto the stage and continued to kick and stomp away at him before settling himself back down with the mantra of “tranquilo.” Rush tossed the weakened Swann back into the ring and continued to assault his opponent with his signature offense before relaxing into a tranquilo pose.

Swann found himself with a flurry of offense as he hoped to turn the tables, but Rush was able to keep the smaller man at bay before spiking him with a sickening Rush Driver double underhook piledriver to score his second victory in MLW.

Grade: Good. A solid showcase for Rush who looks to be a big part of MLW’s 2019 plans.

Rush has been made to look like an absolute star over the past two weeks of MLW Fusion. Last week, he battled Sammy Guevara in an excellent main event and repeated the process this week with Rich Swann. Headlining one of two massive shows in New York during Wrestlemania week, we can expect more of the same from the luchador in the coming months.

Post-match, LA Park made an appearance at the entrance beckoning Rush onward to get their fight started a few months early. Rush, not one to disappoint, met Park on the arena floor and the two tangled briefly until being separated by MLW officials and security guards.

In the midst of the fray, Low Ki entered the ring and began to run down Tom Lawlor ahead of their Superfight confrontation in February. Much to the World Heavyweight Champion’s dismay, Lawlor appeared from behind and began to attack his future opponent who no longer had the other members of Promociones Dorado available for backup.

Lawlor and Low Ki spilled to the arena floor and brawled around the ring as Tony Schiavone delivered an old classic: “Fans, we’re out of time!” With that, the first MLW Fusion LIVE was off the air.
