Matt Hardy

We haven’t seen Matt Hardy in a WWE ring for months, as the “WOKEN” one has quietly moved into a backstage role. Hardy should have received a bigger send-off from WWE, but perhaps a General Manager role has always been thrown around as his next backstage venture.

There have been rumblings of Hardy working as a road agent for WWE going forward due to his experience, but most fans would prefer to continue seeing the talented, creative force in an on-screen role. We’ve seen Paige excel as SmackDown Live GM following her heart-breaking neck injury, as WWE will no longer clear her to compete inside the ring.

Paige has been so good that expecting Hardy to be her equal as a GM may be an unfair expectation, but Hardy is also a long-time star in pro wrestling who has excelled while wearing a variety of different hats. Fans have every reason to believe that he’d immediately join William Regal and Paige as WWE’s best GMs (quick shoutout to the tireless Drake Maverick, too!), and he’d be the most exciting and buzzworthy new “hire” as GM.

Hopefully, Hardy would do a better job of standing up to Stephanie McMahon than predecessors Mick Foley and Kurt Angle, but, well, that would obviously be asking for too much.
