Well, I was reading The Patch Notes from the Sims when all of a sudden I had a Cruiserweight Championship match appear on my screen during the Pre-Show.
Buddy Murphy vs. Cedric Alexander
These two start off grappling back-and-forth for the first minute of the match. Their end-to-end work happens so phonetically and well-timed that I feel like I’m watching drills.
Murphy lands stiff elbows to Alexander’s torso before a failed pin attempt, and then Murphy has Alexander in a chin lock. Alexander powers out and lands a strong forearm to Murphy’s head. Murphy hits a big kick to Alexander’s head in return.
Alexander connects with the Flatliner before giving Murphy a wrecking-ball dropkick and sending him out of the ring. Alexander goes for the pin, but Murphy kicks out.
Murphy tries fo Murphy’s Law, but Alexander nearly counters in into a pin.
Murphy lands strikes all over Alexander before he can return. Alexander hits a stuff elbow in the corner before he tries to climb the ropes. Murphy hits a huge powerbomb on Alexander from off the top rope, but it’s not enough for Murphy to grab the win.
Alexander suddenly hits a MASSIVE lumber check on Murphy, but while Alexander’s going for the pin, Murphy gets his foot on the rope. Holy crap.
Murphy hits a running knee before hitting Murphy’s Law, and he is still the WWE Cruiserweight Champion.
Grade: Uh, main-card level good, how about that?
