1. The Revival
After capturing a future tag team title opportunity on Raw, things are beginning to look up for The Revival. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder moved one step closer to finally getting back to the level they were at in NXT.
It’s that potential for returning to the pinnacle of WWE’s tag team divisions that makes The Revival the de facto best opponents for Heavy Machinery upon their main roster debut.
While initially it may not seem like the right time for such a rivalry, given that The Revival will presumably be placed in a tag title match in the very near future, but that just simply isn’t true.
The Revival are arguably in need of some more sustained momentum before they move back to the peak of the tag team division. They’ve been stuck dwelling in the bottom of the division losing to teams like The Lucha House Party for too long now. It just seems more appropriate that they take another quick stop between jumping from the bottom of the division to the tag team title picture.
Heavy Machinery would be just the right team for The Revival to face off against in order to build up that momentum. They are instantly likable babyfaces who could easily adopt a role in their feud that would see them garner a great deal of fan support.
In the past, The Revival have done an exceptional job of building up feuds that involve the face team clawing their way back up after Wilder and Dawson knock them down through their impeccable, and oftentimes devious, tag team work.
That formula worked wonders in rivalries with teams from Enzo Amore and Big Cass to The New Day, so I have no doubt it would work here. It means Heavy Machinery gets a nice, short feud to kick off their main roster run that allows them the room needed to grow even better into their roles as a top face team in WWE.
It also gives The Revival dangerous opponents to have to dispatch of before moving on to Gable and Roode. That way, Dawson and Wilder would be able to hopefully capture the tag team championships with a full head of steam built up behind them to entrench them at the top of the division.
While I admit it may seem odd to suggest that Heavy Machinery’s first feud be a losing effort, there are plenty of underhanded tactics The Revival could employ in order to protect the debuting team.
At the end of the day, a potential feud between Heavy Machinery and The Revival would provide too great of a jumping point for both the teams involved, and the Raw tag division as a whole, to ignore. It’s easily one of the best possible angles for Heavy Machinery’s exciting upcoming main roster debut.
