3. Will there be any real change?

Amidst sinking ratings and a show that is being mocked by fans, Monday night Raw opened with a segment featuring the entire McMahon family. Without further ado, they went about with the usual mantra that change is imminent and soon the WWE universe will see new faces, superstars and match-ups.

However, there were no ground breaking changes on Monday night to speak off. The show was largely forgettable except for a few moments, which has always been the case with Raw. But when it shined, the show shone really bright. The women were given ample time and Natalya’s race to victory was a slow and steady build. It also ensured to feature other women like Bayley, Sasha Banks and Ruby Riott prominently.

Balor and Ziggler put on a good match and McIntyre made his presence felt, turning this program into a triple threat feud essentially. Big plans might be in the air for the Scottish Psychopath. Baron Corbin’s comeuppance was as satisfying as it could have ever been.

On Tuesday night,  Paige was relieved of her General Manager duties (which was surprising to me, considering how good she was in the role). A babyface authority figure, more importantly, an authority figure that doesn’t overshadow storylines is a rare sight in the WWE and Paige was exactly that. It could be that she is taking some away to promote the upcoming movie featuring Paige’s life story. But the big takeaway was the revived tag division that once again showed it had teams not named the Bar, Usos or the New Day.

Change is a slow process and one cannot expect the WWE to simply reboot everything for the sake of the fans. Especially with WrestleMania around the corner. But there have been reports that Vince McMahon preferred not to be on TV (h/t cagesideseats) until the ratings and the sorry state of affairs on Monday night prompted him to make an appearance. So we could be in for some major shuffling hopefully. It is either that or fans would potentially give up on the product altogether.
