Drew McIntyre

If you’re looking for a potential winner based solely on their success in 2018, Drew McIntyre has made a strong case for himself. Drew has left a trail of bodies in his wake since returning to Monday Night Raw, even toppling WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. He then went on to capture the Raw Tag Team Titles with Dolph Ziggler, and his reign of terror only continued.

While they did eventually lose the titles to Rollins and Ambrose, that just seemed to fire up McIntyre even more. His partnership with Dolph Ziggler eventually fell apart, and McIntyre dumped his former mentor and partner without batting an eye. Despite a few close losses in recent weeks, McIntyre still has plenty of momentum and could be built into a potential Rumble winner without much difficulty.

Back during his first run in WWE, Drew was known as “The Chosen One” and was presented as Mr. McMahon’s hand-picked future champion. Unfortunately, that endorsement didn’t lead to much success in McIntyre’s first stint. With the exception of short reign as WWE Tag Team Champions with Cody Rhodes and a forgettable six-month reign as Intercontinental Champion, McIntyre fell flat and wallowed in the mid-card for years before being released in mid-2014.

Over the following four years, Drew McIntyre took that hardship and used it to refine himself into one of the most powerful and dominant big men on the independent scene. Competing under the name Drew Galloway, he captured the ICW World Heavyweight Championship, Scottish Heavyweight Championship, Evolve Championship, and TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Galloway reinvented himself from the ground up, giving him the needed momentum to return to come to NXT and captured the NXT Championship only months after arriving. Now, that reinvented Scottish Psychopath is on a tear on Monday Night Raw, and the Royal Rumble might just be one more casualty on his path to fulfilling the former prophecy of being “The Chosen One.”
