The Bella Twins Will Retire

For over a decade now Nikki and Brie Bella have been staples of the WWE women’s division, but over the past couple of years they’ve been getting less and less screen time. I guess that makes sense; the Bella Twins are collectively the John Cena of women’s wrestling (If John Cena had a twin brother) and – like Cena – they’ve had some amazing success outside of the squared circle and are probably looking to fluidly weave their way out of the business.

The Bella Twins have gotten a lot of flack over the years for supposedly being everything that was wrong about the Divas era. That all stemmed from sexism and misunderstandings; critics assumed super feminine women couldn’t have a passion for wrestling and were somehow under the mistaken impression that the twins got into wrestling to become actresses or some garbage like that. The Bellas have never given us any reason to question their love of pro wrestling, so it’s quite silly that they picked up so much Diva hate.

Nonetheless, Nikki and Brie have been branching out over the past few years and obviously have a crazy reality TV gig on the side with Total Divas and Total Bellas. They’ve both done just about everything there is to do in wrestling at this point in time and are rarely used for big storylines, which is why I predict that 2019 will be the year the Bella Twins officially hang up their wrestling boots and move on to the next stages in their respective careers.
