1. The Women Make History at the Royal Rumble and Evolution
It’s weird classifying whole events as “feel good moments,” but if I’m being totally honest, most of my enjoyment from WWE this year came from most of the women that work for the company. From spinning gold on Raw and SmackDown Live to delivering match of the year contenders in the second Mae Young Classic, it’s hard not to love the women of WWE.
That’s why the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble and the first ever WWE all women’s pay per view Evolution were such highlights of the year in terms of events, matches or even a feel good factor. Because it wasn’t just about the current storylines, it was also celebrating the past, present, and future of the company by giving space to former women’s superstars, as well as NXT stars.

We got to see NXT shine through Kairi Sane and Ember Moon in the Rumble. We got Lita and Trish back in the ring not once but twice this year and even in a match with the current longest tenured woman wrestler on the roster in Alicia Fox, having opportunities they couldn’t have even dreamed about.
Carmella even got a dance break with Ivory! Sasha Banks became the first Iron Woman in her Wonder Woman themed gear and Asuka made history as the first ever woman to win a Women’s Royal Rumble. And Becky Lynch solidified her place in the pantheon of the Four Horsewomen of WWE by beating Charlotte Flair in an insane Last Woman Standing match.
If there’s anything to feel good about going into 2019, it’s that the women have more than proved themselves as a staple in the company and the industry. If anything, the evolution was just beginning in 2018.
