9. Roman Reigns Wins The Universal Championship

The only reason this moment ranks so far down the list was because of everything that happened after, with Reigns having to relinquish due to his leukemia coming out of remission and Brock Lesnar winning it back in Saudi Arabia.

But that moment back at SummerSlam was a long time coming and was a bright spot in 2018. Reigns had established himself as a locker room leader and became the one to point out that Lesnar wasn’t around and didn’t care to be around; Lesnar just cared about a paycheck.

While it was way too long coming and his loss at Mania made the live experience turn way too sour, the moment of pure joy at SummerSlam as Reigns finally pinned Lesnar.

Reigns not only lifted a huge weight that was hanging on the Universal Championship, but this also closed a three-and-a-half year storyline of wondering if Roman could indeed beat The Beast.

With a spear and a well placed chair that signified Lesnar’s own hubris in the face of Braun Strowman, suddenly Raw had a full-time champion again who cared about the show and the people he worked with.

Reigns’ time as Universal Champion was way too short, but in that short time, he proved himself to be the kind of champion that title has long deserved.
