WWE Royal Rumble: 10 Potential Winners of the Women’s Rumble

Becky Lynch
If Charlotte Flair was the favorite a few months ago, Becky Lynch is the favorite and the favorite’s favorite now. As she’s reiterated on more than one occasion, Becky Lynch was never supposed to be in this spot. Things haven’t gone like WWE wanted them to. If WWE’s master plan had gone down as expected, Becky’s fans would’ve turned against her. She probably would’ve become a lukewarm bad guy who would’ve lost to Rousey at Survivor Series, and we wouldn’t be considering her nearly as heavily to win the Women’s Rumble.
That might have been what WWE wanted to do, but The Man had other plans. After finally defeating Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, Becky Lynch turned up the fire and let herself crank the volume to 11. WWE might have wanted the fans to turn on The Lass Kicker, but Becky’s beloved fanbase only stuck closer to her after she turned on Charlotte. They didn’t see a “heel” doing things she shouldn’t.
They saw their champion finally refusing to let WWE keep her down. They saw their champion using any means necessary to take her spot, even if it pissed people off along the way. They saw The Man take her rightful place. Becky’s invasion of Raw prior to Survivor Series only amplified things. She destroyed Rousey both in the locker room and in the ring, despite taking a legitimate “face-breaking” punch by Nia Jax during an in-ring brawl.
Despite the damage, including a concussion and bloodied face, Lynch didn’t even miss a beat. She continued her beatdown and put Raw’s entire women’s division on notice just before Survivor Series. Becky wasn’t medically cleared to compete against Rousey at Survivor Series due to the concussion, and chose Charlotte Flair to take her place. The moment only intensified fan support for Lynch, who was quite vocal about her displeasure with not being medically cleared.
One month later at TLC, Lynch had to defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against both Charlotte Flair and Asuka in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match. Becky was fighting strong, but Ronda Rousey suddenly appeared and made her presence felt by knocking over a ladder holding both Lynch and Flair. The action cost both of them the match, and Asuka was able to scale a ladder to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the first time.
As a quick note, it was briefly announced this week that Becky Lynch would be granted a rematch for her championship at the Royal Rumble, but that announcement has since been nixed. Apparently there was a miscommunication and that previous plan was changed, meaning Becky will likely play a big role in the Women’s Rumble. Now Becky has her sights on the woman who cost her the title, and the best way to get to Rousey is to win the Royal Rumble, but can The Man pull it off?
