Lio Rush

Before Drake Maverick announced that Buddy Murphy’s title defense at WWE Royal Rumble would be a Fatal Four-Way match, I thought Lio Rush would be a great candidate for Murphy in singles competition. He returned to in-ring action on 205 last week with an impressive squash victory, showing an even more aggressive side of his character.

Working with Bobby Lashley, a decorated mixed martial artist and the former face of Impact Wrestling, has likely driven Rush to pursue greater heights. Rush has more than enough talent to reach the peak of 205 Live, and this renewed focus could be what pushes him to the top.

Kalisto is not an easy matchup by any means, but Rush can more than match the former United States Champion in the quickness department. He’ll have to prove his technical chops against the experienced Kalisto, but since Rush is willing to do whatever it takes for glory, he should be viewed as the favorite here.

Since Rush is such an important part of Monday Night Raw as Lashley’s mouthpiece, it’s best for him to get this kind of platform at a Big 5 PPV. He is on the rise, and WWE must continue to take advantage of Rush, who has plenty of talent on the stick and in the ring.
