WWE Royal Rumble: Predicting Buddy Murphy’s 3 Opponents
Drew Gulak
The 205 Live end-of-the-year show was rudely interrupted by a PSA of sorts from Drew Gulak, who has always made it his mission to rid the Cruiserweight Division of high-risk maneuvers and anything else that he deems unbecoming of the high station of a professional wrestler. Gulak is here to take the other curiserweights to task for the errors, and he is both tough and cruel as a leader who practices what he preaches.
Of course, Gulak has dedicated his life to making 205 Live a “better place” for his own benefit, as he has shown weaknesses against high-flying opponents, such as Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander. Gulak will be more driven than ever to change the landscape of 205 in 2019, and that all begins with this qualifying match against Akira Tozawa.
While Tozawa is coming off of an impressive tag team victory with The Brian Kendrick against Gulak and Jack Gallagher, it’s hard to envision Tozawa upsetting Gulak, whose submission work would add greatly to the Fatal Four-Way match. Gulak always offers a unique dynamic in multi-man matches on 205 Live, and he’s too important to be left out of this Rumble match.
The chances of Gulak actually winning the Cruiserweight Championship aren’t low either, because he’s been such a key part of the division that a championship win has been a long time coming. That said, he hasn’t been built up much lately, so while an out-of-nowhere win is an intriguing possibility, Gulak won’t necessarily be viewed as a favorite in this match.
