Redemption

Unfortunately for Redemption, it came in last in our ranking of Impact’s 2018 pay-per-view events, but that’s a misleading position when considering how much great wrestling happened at Redemption. Impact put together three high-quality PPVs this year, and it shows when something like Redemption comes in last.

One of the most chaotic clashes of the night was a six-way match featuring Dezmond Xavier, DJZ, El Hijo del Fantasma, Taiji Ishimori, Trevor Lee, and finally Brian Cage in his Impact Wrestling pay-per-view debut. What followed was a complete car crash of action, and anyone who questioned the destructive power of Brian Cage was silenced by the end of the night.

The night’s main event was set on WrestleMania weekend only a few weeks prior to this event. During the Impact Wrestling vs Lucha Underground show at WrestleCon 2018, Pentagon Jr managed to defeated Austin Aries and Fenix in a non-title triple threat match.

The match showed fans what these three could do inside the ring together, and Pentagon’s win brought up the question of whether or not he could capture the Impact World Championship had it been on the line. Fans didn’t have to wait long for an answer, as the rematch took place at Redemption with the title on the line.

It was a spectacular close to the night, and one of the biggest moments of the year as Pentagon Jr. captured the Impact World Championship for the first time ever. While he eventually lost the title, Pentagon will once again be looking for gold in 2019 as he teams with Fenix and takes on LAX for the Tag Team Titles at Homecoming.
