6. Hell In A Cell

Arguably no match has helped define the past 20 years in the WWE more than what Hell in a Cell has done.  The match got so big that it warranted its own pay-per-view, which formed in 2010 and since then, Hell In A Cell has been a staple of WWE pay-per-view.

Hell In A Cell 2018 was a big night for the WWE with both Raw and SmackDown having standout matches.  Randy Orton vs. Jeff Hardy inside Hell in a Cell was an outstanding match and one of the most brutal Hell in a Cell matches in recent memory.  Becky Lynch defeating Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship was one of the most important moments of the year, in a very good match to show for it.

The Raw Tag Team Championship match that saw Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre retain against Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose was one of the best tag team matches of 2018.  AJ Styles’ win over Samoa Joe in retaining his WWE Championship was very good in its own right, despite a bit of a controversial finish.  However, from that point on, the show began going downhill a bit.

The mixed tag team match that saw The Miz and Maryse defeat Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella was far from impressive.  Ronda Rousey’s win and Raw Women’s Championship retainment over Alexa Bliss was solid, but the main event Hell in a Cell match featuring Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship was one of the worst-booked matches in WWE history where a Hell in a Cell match ended in a no contest after interference from Brock Lesnar.

A not so impressive finish plagued an otherwise great pay-per-view that featured some of the best in-ring work the WWE saw in 2018.
