IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship: Cody(c) vs Juice Robinson

As much as I’m a fan of both Cody and Juice, this honestly feels like it was just thrown on the card at the last minute to get the US Championship on the show. There is some history between the two with Cody’s NJPW debut coming against Juice at Wrestle Kingdom 11, but the former champ hasn’t really done anything in storyline to earn this opportunity after dropping the belt back in September, and there has been little to no build to make the rematch feels special or interesting. Still, both guys are capable of telling captivating stories in the ring, and I’m sure this match will end up being a lot of fun.

Cody’s in the same position as the Bucks with AEW, so it’s hard for me to bet on him retaining here. There’s a chance that he could hang onto the belt for now and continue to work part time with NJPW, or he could even take the strap with him to Jacksonville and defend it a few times in the new promotion, but there really is no way to know, so I’ll go with the full timer over the question mark. Besides, Juice deserves a longer, more eventful reign than he got the first time around anyways.
