Lilian Garcia

When I was about 13 years old I was just turning on the television to see what this wild wrestling craze was all about. It flew under my radar at the time, but a few years later I would learn that I was joining WWE as a fan at nearly the same time (almost to the week) that Lilian Garcia began her long and illustrious career as one of pro wrestling’s greatest ring announcers.

I’ve always loved Lilian’s work; she’s got a passion for what she does and it always showed through.

Her commitment to wrestling was not to be questioned either. Lilian wasn’t just there because it was an announcing gig; she really dug her claws into the business and participated in some cool storylines over the years. Perhaps one of her most memorable angles was when she was romantically linked to the 500-pound monstrosity known as Viscera.

Of course, her character work never overshadowed her ability to sell the heck out of “this next match” or to bring a crowd to tears with her rendition of the American national anthem. I was lucky enough to hear Lilian do her thing in person a few times, and she’s got a voice that runs chills down your spine.

Lilian Garcia has been one of WWE’s finest ambassadors over the years and a terrific role model. Give this woman a Hall of Fame induction, already. In fact, let her announce and induct herself at the ceremony, because no one’s going to do it better.
