Deonna Purrazzo Has Found Her Footing
With what I expect to be an epic showdown between NXT UK Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley and Toni Storm at TakeOver: Blackpool inching ever closer, Toni Storm competed this week against the woman her TakeOver opponent defeated last week, Deonna Purrazzo.
Toni and Deonna wrestled a great match, not that anyone should be surprised. Being perfectly honest, both women are worthy of the main roster, but given the sorry state of affairs the women’s divisions on Raw and SmackDown have been in the past couple of weeks, I’m hoping they stay right where they are for the foreseeable future.
Toni and Rhea are going to tear the house down in Blackpool, I have no doubt in my mind about that. I’ve said before that they are two of my favorite rising stars between both NXT brands.
However, Deonna Purrazzo is just poised for a breakthrough, one she’s been earning for years. It seemed she was continuously being lost in the shuffle despite amazing performances in the Mae Young Classic, but I believe she may have found her groove with NXT UK.
With two strong showings in as many consecutive weeks, Deonna Purrazzo might just be right at home on this brand. She couldn’t quite catch a break with NXT, but she’s already one of the best things about its UK counterpart.
It would be wise for NXT UK to keep Purrazzo in the title picture following TakeOver because there is no more credible contender on the roster after Toni Storm and Rhea Ripley.
