1. Becky Lynch Beats Carmella and Charlotte Flair To Get Her Rematch with Asuka at Royal Rumble

‘The Man’ is the star of SmackDown Live.

If somehow that wasn’t clear by now, then take a look at her mixed tag match with John Cena last week. She was the one receiving all the chants, all the support, and ultimately she was the one who knocked John Cena out of the ring to get the win herself.

In short, Becky Lynch was WWE’s biggest star once again.

With that incredible amount of fan support behind her, it only seems reasonable to expect her to win the number 1 contenders match this week. While some have suggested Lynch could go on to win The  Royal Rumble match this year, I think WWE might just be planning an angle even bigger than a Royal Rumble win for ‘The Man.’

At this point, I’m in the camp of believing that the main event of WrestleMania will be a triple threat match between Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte. While that doesn’t preclude Lynch from winning The Royal Rumble, it does mean that there is someone else who may pick up the win to earn their way into that match.

Charlotte can pick up The Royal Rumble win, giving herself a guaranteed spot in WrestleMania’s main event, while Lynch can challenge Asuka to try to recapture her SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Then, depending on the outcome of that match, Lynch could have a major storyline somewhat similar to that of Daniel Bryan’s at the height of the “Yes!” movement in order to earn a spot in the WrestleMania main event.

Such a storyline would be a perfect way to propel Lynch’s stardom to even greater heights, making her the de facto face of the entire company once and for all. It would arguably be an even greater platform for a star like Lynch to use as a WrestleMania storyline than simply winning The Royal Rumble.

The only question left then becomes whether or not Becky Lynch beats Asuka at Royal Rumble. While I would say its too hard to make that call right now, we won’t have to wait long to find out what WWE’s solution is, if indeed Lynch is victorious in this high stakes triple threat match.

Either way, having so many exceptional stars like Lynch, Asuka, and Flair to spotlight is never a bad problem to have.

All signs point to SmackDown continuing its great start to 2019 this week, with a show that it appears could even rival a massive episode of Monday Night Raw.
