WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights, And Grades For January 8, 2019
Charlotte Flair Promo
In a promo, Charlotte Flair called Carmella “last year’s hottest thing”, Becky Lynch “this year’s hottest thing”, and herself the “hottest thing” of the past four years before noting her seven women’s championship victories.
She’s ready and fired up to “humble” her competition in tonight’s Triple Threat, which will decide Asuka’s challenger for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble in Phoenix, Arizona on Jan. 27.
Daniel Bryan Exits
We see Daniel Bryan exiting the arena with his suitcase, and Kayla Braxton notes that tonight wasn’t the WWE Champion’s night. After taking a shot at the “impotent” fan who spilled mustard on his shirt, Bryan was reminded that AJ Styles got the jump on him tonight, but Bryan asserted that he doesn’t care what AJ did tonight. He screams that Styles’s attack wasn’t “half as vicious” as what the “New” Daniel Bryan is capable of, and this promo shows us just how much the title needs for Bryan; Bryan is, after all, fighting for the planet and plans on being champion “forever”.
Shane And Miz
The Miz does his best to convince Shane McMahon that getting an immediate opportunity at the SmackDown Tag Team Championships against The Bar at the Royal Rumble PPV was the right move, and after some convincing, Shane saw his logic. It’s really awesome to see how Shane feeds off of The Miz’s confidence, and I am very much enjoying this newly-born tag team.
