All Elite Wrestling: Four Important Questions Still Remain For AEW

2.) Does equal pay mean equal representation?
A big announcement that Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes made during the event was that the women’s division would be receiving equal pay to the men. Which is huge, considering the pay gap in wrestling is still very much a thing, even in WWE.
Still, beyond Brandi, Ford, and Britt Baker, there are still not a lot of answers about the AEW women’s division out there currently. Brandi made allusions to talking to promotions in Japan, UK and Australia about their women, but not much else.
So where does that leave the women in AEW currently? Will they serve equal time to the men at all AEW shows? Will they have their own belts? Will the women be allowed to interact with the men in story segments or even intergender matches? Or is it just going to be repeating well-paid triple threats?
Speaking of equal representation, Matt Jackson said during the rally that they don’t care about race, gender or religion when signing and spoke of a partnership with Chinese promotion OWE, but there were only two non-white individuals at the rally: Brandi Rhodes and Scorpio Sky. Plus, the omission of sexuality in Jackson’s statement makes me wonder where queer wrestlers will stand within the future of AEW. Hopefully it’s more of an oversight than a direct omission, but here’s hoping that equal time will also be paid to minority wrestlers.
