Candy Lee

Candy Lee is a fun, Diva’s Era-inspired babyface who is making a huge impact in the women’s wrestling world. Lee’s sweetness belies bone-rattling in-ring work (check out her powerbomb finisher, the Candy Crush!) and she’s building a following at home and abroad.

“Candy Three Belts” holds titles at three major New Zealand wrestling promotions. She’s poised to take the world of women’s wrestling by storm.

As one of the few openly transgender wrestlers working today, Lee unfairly serves as a lightning rod for transphobia in the wrestling community.

She meets her haters with wit and grace and has shown that she won’t let bigotry stand between her and her climb to the top. She deserves to make her American debut with a company that will put their faith in her and have her back.

Could that company be AEW?

Candy would bring a lot to AEW’s roster. Her character has a huge personality to match her fun in-ring work, and it would be fun to see how her bubbly confidence would play off of a take-no-prisoners badass like Britt Baker.

Hiring Candy would also be a real way for AEW to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to creating a truly inclusive promotion. If AEW is sincere in that goal, making a stand for transgender wrestlers by being the first American company to sign her would be huge.

It’s also a good business decision, as Candy has fans across the globe who would love to see her get the chance to compete outside of New Zealand.

AEW can give her that shot, and establish themselves as a company that truly is welcoming to all wrestlers in one fell swoop. There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Let’s see Candy Lee in an AEW ring in 2019.
