1. Naomi Returns The Favor and Costs Sonya Deville Her Match Against Carmella
Naomi and Mandy Rose have put on one of the surprising standout feuds on SmackDown over the last few weeks.
Despite the “Women’s Revolution” in WWE, it’s rare that the women’s division gets the opportunity to build a rivalry like this without featuring a world title. Considering the connection this feud has with audiences too, it definitely seems like something WWE needs to do more of.
This week, I expect Naomi to finally get the upper hand in her on-going rivalry with Rose and Sonya Deville by turning the tables on the two heels. Naomi will interrupt Deville’s match with Carmella, who could then take the opportunity to pick up a big win over Deville.
Since Carmella’s currently scheduled to be the 30th entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble match, she could use a win like this to build her back up into a credible threat in the division, especially after her great performance in the number 1 contenders triple threat match with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair on SmackDown last week.
On the other hand, Naomi and Mandy Rose need to continue their back-and-forth exchanges for a few more weeks.
The two deserve to duke it out on the main card of the Royal Rumble one-on-one in order to settle their rivalry. The feud’s been too well-received to not get a major spotlight, so the new developments this week should be welcomed in order to ensure this match ends up on the Royal Rumble card.
Overall, SmackDown this week looks to feature the perfect combination of fun segments and great matches in order to make a truly enjoyable show.
