2. Andrade vs. Rey Mysterio
Arguably the most accomplished and popular Lucha libre competitor of all-time has to be considered Rey Mysterio. He’s a bonafide legend and future hall of famer, but even in his mid-40’s, Mysterio is still at the top of his game, as is another more recent Lucha libre competitor.
Andrade Cien Almas, now recognized as simply Andrade by the WWE, has been impressing over the past few months on the blue brand with countless great matches and performances. However, the match that took place last night between Andrade and Mysterio was on another level, a level not seen in the WWE in quite some time.
Most expected this to be a great match, but not only was this a great match, but it was also a special match. These two pulled out all of the stops, and then some with some of the most innovative offense the WWE has probably ever seen. It was a masterful work of art between two of the most talented competitors in the world today.
The finish, however, saw a brief distraction from Zelina Vega that allowed Andrade to take control of Mysterio and get the huge win. Yes, the finish was a bit screwy, but it doesn’t take anything away from the virtuoso performance by both Andrade and Mysterio. Every match Andrade is in, he somehow manages to pull out something different, and that’s a rare talent.
This is a must-see match and both men shined as brightly as possible with a match that will have fans talking for a long time.
Final Grade: A+
