1. Is the Elimination Chamber match really best for the Women’s Tag Titles?

Alexa Bliss revealed the newly introduced Women’s Tag Titles this week on Raw. She announced that the inaugural winners will be crowned in an Elimination Chamber match featuring three teams from Raw and three from SmackDown Live. Intriguing as it is, I wonder if that would be the best way to introduce the titles.

For starters, fans have gotten tired of Elimination Chamber matches that happen for the sake of having a PPV. The chamber is a gore fest that does not need to be brought out every year. Much like Hell in a Cell,  Elimination Chamber is a last resort for multiple rivalries that often lead to the same path. In light of that, do the Women’s Tag Titles really needed an Elimination Chamber match?

The last time a tag team Elimination Chamber match happened, teams like the New Day and Tyson Kidd and Cesaro collided inside it. Even then, the match wasn’t spectacular enough for creative to keep having tag team Elimination Chamber matches.

In that regard, I wonder if the Women’s tag division has the firepower to make an impact in the chamber? We live in an era where the women have often crafted wonders in the ring. They have competed in Table Matches and inside Hell in a Cell. There is no denying that they can work a five-star match with any kind of stipulation.

But still, I am not entirely able to buy into the idea of the need for a Chamber match. Why couldn’t they follow up on the success of the Evolution PPV and replace Elimination Chamber with a tournament style special event for the tag titles?

This would provide more tag teams the opportunity to compete in matches and leave a memorable impression. Tournaments are always a successful formula and are the best way to showcase resilience and intertwining storylines. Why couldn’t creative consider that option?

I questioned the Women’s Elimination Chamber Match last year, when it seemed more ceremonial and in line with creating a ‘first ever’-moment rather than something that was needed. I also questioned how the Women’s Tag Titles would work in the WWE.

But right now, my biggest question is whether we actually needed a single Elimination Chamber match, or a one-night special tournament based PPV, featuring all women’s tag teams from both brands, and maybe a couple of special appearances from NXT. What are your thoughts?
