Raw Women’s Championship Match: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Sasha Banks
Last year, we saw Ronda Rousey make an unannounced appearance after the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble. The crowd came unglued as the UFC star was finally in WWE, and Rousey added to it by pointing to the sign for WrestleMania 34 and making her intentions clear.
One year later, and it’s hard to argue that many have had a better first 12 months than Ronda Rousey. In her first match, she competed at WrestleMania 34 along with Kurt Angle against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon and came out victorious.
Since winning that match, Ronda Rousey went on to become Raw Women’s Champion at SummerSlam and is still undefeated in WWE. The Baddest Woman on the Planet has stepped up to every possible challenge and lived up to the hype.
At the Royal Rumble, she has an entirely different challenge. While Rousey has had big wins against the likes of Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss, she’s up against a true workhorse at the Royal Rumble. For the first time on the big stage, Rousey will face off against Sasha Banks.
While you could argue that Rousey has proven herself against a ring-veteran like Natalya, that match was on Raw. There’s something special about facing such an experienced and intelligent competitor when the lights are on bright. Rousey has been open about how excited she is to face Banks, but she’ll have her hands full when the bell sounds.
There’s always a chance that Sasha Banks could shock the world and dethrone the undefeated champion, but it’s unlikely that moment happens at the Rumble. With speculation that Rousey will be poised to face Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 35, expect a spectacular match here that ends with Rousey still as Raw Women’s Champion.
Prediction: Ronda Rousey
