WWE Raw: The Alexa Bliss Face Turn Appears To Be Complete
Fans have been wondering if Alexa Bliss could turn babyface for the first time in her career, and on last night’s episode of WWE Raw, it appears that character change was solidified.
Last night’s big announcement on WWE Raw, once again, came on “A Moment of Bliss”. Except, this time, Alexa Bliss’s news was focused on her. At the Royal Rumble on Sunday, Bliss will make her long-awaited return to the ring after missing months due to concussions.
It’s great to hear that Bliss is no longer dealing with the symptoms of a concussion, and brain injuries are both tricky and serious business. Bliss’s return to the ring was difficult to predict, but there were signs that she’d be able to return soon – and the Women’s Rumble is the best place for that to happen.
In 2018, Bliss didn’t compete in the first Women’s Rumble, as she was the Raw Women’s Champion. This is her chance to make an impact in a Rumble match, especially since she didn’t compete in the battle royals at WrestleMania 34 and Evolution.
Her return to the ring will surely be met by loud cheers, too. Even when Bliss was a villain and criticized by the WWE Universe for winning too frequently, fans enjoyed it when she crashed the Nia Jax vs. Ronda Rousey match at Money in the Bank last year to cash in her newly-won briefcase. The WWE Universe has been waiting to cheer Bliss for months, and even a year ago after her Elimination Chamber victory, she baited the fans into cheering her before turning on them in an instant.

Based on last night’s segment on Raw, Bliss is a babyface “for real” this time. Though it was hard to truly tell in between the awkwardness of trying to prevent the Raw Women’s Division from inevitably brawling on her show, Lacey Evans’s introduction to the Raw roster served as the moment where Bliss’s face turn was seemingly confirmed.
Following the brawl, Evans had far more choice words for the Raw Women’s Division than Bliss, whose attempt to diffuse the situation included less severe language. Evans saw the rest of the women on the roster as “nasties”, and she took direct aim at Bliss, calling her a “runt”. As Evans closed her first promo on the main roster, she locked eyes with a quietly seething Bliss.
Bliss vs. Evans is a storyline to watch during the Rumble. Evans announced her intention to compete in the Rumble match, essentially attempting to steal some thunder from Bliss, so this is a confrontation fans should be interested in seeing. It could also be a great feud to watch develop during WrestleMania season.
It’s awesome to know that Alexa Bliss is healthy and ready to return to the ring, and it makes sense for WWE to put Bliss in a situation where she’ll be cheered upon her in-ring return. Many of us have been waiting for the “good” side of Bliss to come out, and hopefully this gives her a chance to really showcase her character in a different way. She hasn’t been a babyface since glittering up in NXT, but based on the look in her eyes as Evans spoke last night, there will be more bite to Bliss’s character this time.
