1. Shawn Michaels

There are few superstars with quite as impressive of a track record in Royal Rumble matches as Shawn Michaels.

‘The Heartbreak Kid’ more or less invented the role of the iron man in Royal Rumble matches after winning as the first entrant in the 1995 iteration of the match. A legendary Royal Rumble competitor like Michaels would always be a welcome sight to see back in the match.

In fact, Michaels alone, in any match, would always be a welcome sight to see back in the WWE ring.

Ever since his tag match at Crown Jewel against Kane and The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels has left WWE fans everywhere wanting just one more run for ‘Mr. WrestleMania.’

While Michaels has virtually rejected any hope for another in-ring return after that Crown Jewel match, this is the WWE. Unexpected or surprising returns always seem to be right around the corner. I, for one, would not be willing to rule out the ever so slight possibility that Michaels would be willing to make a quick Royal Rumble appearance.

While I doubt such an appearance would lead to any angle with Daniel Bryan or A.J. Styles as fans have desperately wanted for so long, the amount of incredible moments Michaels could make with just a single minute in a match like the Royal Rumble against any number of other competitors is practically too long to list.

Shawn Michaels clearly has some of that ‘Heartbreak Kid’ spirit left in him. We all saw it at Crown Jewel. One last appearance in a WWE ring at the Royal Rumble, no matter how brief, would be an amazing send-off for one of WWE’s all-time greats.
