Seth Rollins

Out of all the men announced for the WWE Royal Rumble this year, Seth Rollins stands out as having the best chance of outlasting the rest of the competition. It seems like WWE has been building up for a moment like this for a year, given how he shows resiliency against all types of opponents. He’s suffered very few key losses, and he’s almost impossible to beat one-on-one on Raw – his show.

Working against Rollins is the fact that he’s made many enemies on Raw. Intercontinental Champion Bobby Lashley and The Scottish Psychopath Drew McIntyre have plenty of reasons to despise Rollins, but his former brother in arms, Dean Ambrose, seems to be his most dangerous foe going forward. Ambrose and Rollins had a match at TLC, a Falls Count Anywhere match on Raw that was fought to no contest, and a Triple Threat with Lashley, but they could be headed for one more big fight at WrestleMania.

But maybe Rollins is tabbed for something even bigger than that. If Finn Balor can’t pull off the “David vs. Goliath” (as Vince McMahon billed it on this week’s episode of Raw) upset of Brock Lesnar earlier in the night, Rollins’s chances of winning the Rumble dramatically go up. Rollins has been viewed as the person most likely to unseat Lesnar at ‘Mania, and after Triple H lit a fire under his former protege, Seth really could win his first Rumble this Sunday.

And maybe Rollins’s many enemies in this match will work in his favor from a story-telling aspect, because WWE could set him up as the “Iron Man” while eliminating all the men who have stood in his way en route to victory.
