WWE Royal Rumble 2019: Predicting The Men’s Final Four

Dean Ambrose

Sirens blare when Dean Ambrose makes his entrance, and he makes it abundantly clear that he has nothing but contempt for the WWE Universe. The man ran his body into the ground and nearly killed himself for the fans, yet they never gave him anything in return. A man scorned, Ambrose hates his former Shield brother Seth Rollins just as much as the fans who used to support him.

Colleague “TBK” called Ambrose the darkhorse to win this year’s WWE Royal Rumble match, and it will be slightly disappointing if he isn’t at least in the final four.

Some fans have argued that WWE has dropped the ball with Ambrose’s heel turn by having him cut rather generic “you people” promos on the fans. I’ve been waiting for Ambrose’s character to take a more interesting turn after developing this initial heat with the crowd, and while the “Moral Compass” stuff has potential, Dean hasn’t quite been booked to his potential as a remorseless, unhinged character. The lack of remorse has been there, sure, and he’s even walked a fine line at times, but something’s been missing.

The Rumble is an opportunity for Ambrose to become a bigger threat on Raw. A Rumble victory would be totally out-of-the-blue for Dean, and he might not even be a major player in the Rumble. But he should be, since Dean is a main-event heel on Raw and needs that slight boost after losing the Intercontinental Championship.
