WWE Royal Rumble 2019: Predicting The Men’s Final Four

Drew McIntyre

Though I was between Drew McIntyre and Samoa Joe here, I think WWE might go with one older star in the Royal Rumble’s “Final Four”. Randy Orton has to be one of the least popular options to win the Rumble, referring back to the reactions when he won the 2017 Rumble. Orton’s inclusion would generate a great deal of heat because of his status as a part-timer and a truly hated heel.

That said, Joe and McIntyre are hated heels who have a built-in story with some of the babyfaces in this match. McIntyre has it out for Rollins, while Joe has made Ali and the rest of the men in this match a target. Joe, who has yet to secure a title in WWE despite multiple opportunities, is on a rampage, and it’s important for him to look good in this match.

But McIntyre is the one being built up as the biggest threat of them all, with Michael Cole continuously referring to him as a future Universal Champion. Though he might not win the whole thing, he needs to be built up for WrestleMania after suffering a string of losses, including a tough one to Rollins on Raw. McIntyre vs. Cena is a real possibility for ‘Mania, and if Balor were to defeat Lesnar on Sunday, McIntyre vs. Balor could be Raw’s defining men’s feud in 2019.

I’d keep a close eye on McIntyre this Sunday, because he has a great chance of being in the final two, potentially squaring off with Rollins yet again.
